Josh Putnam opens up HTFSDS season with fourth-place outing in Bama Bash
Looking to defend his championship from last year, Josh Putnam kicked off the Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series season on Saturday afternoon at Talladega Short Track (Eastaboga, Ala.) after Friday's Bama Bash opener was rained out.
Among a stacked 46-car field on hand, Putnam qualified fourth-quickest in qualifying and won his heat race after using a power-move on the outside to take the lead. Redrawing the outside pole, Josh briefly took the lead on the initial start but fell back to fourth when the checkered flag flew on the 50-lap feature. Brandon Overton collected the $15,000 payday as Putnam trailed Cory Hedgecock and Chris Ferguson while Michael Page completed the Top-5.
