Cody Thompson continues season at King of America XIII
Over the first weekend in April, Cody Thompson traveled to Humboldt, Kansas, to participate in his first Summit United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) event of the year at Humboldt Speedway. Throughout each night of King of America XIII he worked on getting his new car dialed for the season.
On both Thursday and Friday, Thompson’s Reich Painting & Decorating Co. Inc. No. 25C Modified was one of 53 USMTS entries in the pit area at the quarter-mile track.
In Thursday’s event opener, Thompson finished eighth in his heat and 13th in his B-Main, ending his evening in advance of the 33-lap, $3,000-to-win feature.
Friday saw Thompson turn in a sixth-place result in his heat, but a 14th-place finish in his consolation race precluded him from advancing to the night’s 40-lap, $5,000-to-win A-Main.
In the slated event finale on Saturday, Thompson was among 51 USMTS competitors at Humboldt. After a seventh-place showing in his heat, Thompson came home 19th in his B-Main and was unable to advance to the 60-lap, $12,000-to-win main event. That race was rained out after just two laps and will be made up at a later date.
