Willard races in MLRA lid lifter at Lucas Oil Speedway
Brennon Willard was part of an impressive 44-car field over the weekend when the Lucas Oil Midwest Late Model Racing Association (MLRA) kicked off its season with the 11th annual Spring Nationals at Wheatland, Missouri’s Lucas Oil Speedway.
In the event opener at the 3/8-mile track on Friday, Willard drove his Willard Asphalt No. 3 Super Late Model to fifth in his heat race and fourth in his B-Main. He started the 40-lap, $7,000-to-win feature from the 25th position, but registered a DNF due to a broken driveshaft and rear end. He ultimately was scored 21st in the final rundown.
On Saturday, Willard finished seventh in his heat and fifth in his consolation race, bringing his evening to a close in advance of the 60-lap finale paying $20,000 to the victor.
Willard sits 14th in MLRA points after the first weekend of action in 2024.
