Justin Duty charges hard in MLRA Spring Nationals

After a lengthy layoff, Double Duty Motorsports driver Justin Duty took to the track over the weekend for the 2024 Lucas Oil Late Model Racing Association (MLRA) season opener. He turned in a best finish of ninth aboard his Don Frank Floors No. 15 Super Late Model in the doubleheader at Wheatland, Missouri’s Lucas Oil Speedway.

The 11th annual Spring Nationals brought 44 MLRA competitors to the 3/8-mile track on both Friday and Saturday. On Friday, Duty finished eighth in his heat race and sixth in his B-Main, putting him 23rd on the grid to start the 40-lap, $7,000-to-win feature. Duty stormed through the field to pick up 14 positions and a ninth-place result. The effort netted him the Swift Springs “Move of the Race” award.

In Saturday’s program, Duty took ninth in his heat and fourth in his consolation race. After obtaining the 24th starting spot in the 60-lap, $20,000-to-win main event, Duty picked up seven positions and came home 17th.

With the first weekend of MLRA action in the books, Duty sits fourth in series points.
