Tim Ward earns fourth win of 2024 at Clay County

Pulling double duty in the Modified and Stock Car ranks, Tim Ward returned to action on Thursday for the two-day King of the High Banks at Marshalltown Speedway (Marshalltown, Iowa).

With prelims on Thursday setting the stage for Friday’s Stock Car feature, Ward backed up a sixth-place finish in his first heat with a fourth-place run in the second round. Later that night in the Modified ranks, Tim followed up a seventh-to-third showing in his heat with runner-up finish in the A-Main from the fourth row.

On Friday, Tim’s bid for the $5,000-to-win Stock Car main event was over with a sixth-place B-Main finish, shifting his focus to the Modified. Chasing the $1,500 payday in the A-Main, Ward retired on lap 27 while running second.

A weekly stop to Boone Speedway (Boone, Iowa) for Ward on Saturday resulted in a runner-up result in the feature. He crossed the line in third in his heat before advancing forward 10 spots in the 20-lap affair to register a second-place finish.

Tim capped off a four-race stretch with a trip to Clay County Fair Speedway (Spencer, Iowa) on Monday and it paid off as he ended the night in victory lane. The Harcourt, Iowa, driver outran pole-starting Kelly Shryock to secure his fourth win of the 2024 season.
