Ashton Winger makes surprise visit to Senoia Raceway in Limited Late Model division
With the series making its first visit to the Carolinas, Ashton Winger was one of 37 Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series Late Models at Ultimate Motorsports & RV Park (Elkin, N.C.) on Friday afternoon.
Winning his Last Chance Qualifier, Winger started 17th in the $10,000-to-win feature and was running inside the Top-15 before Ashton tagged a slowing car down the frontstretch which resulted in severe damage. Being unable to return to the track, Ashton recorded a 24th-place finish.
Saturday's $20,000-to-win Buddy Crook Memorial at Lancaster (S.C.) Motor Speedway was cancelled due to overnight rain showers.
Winger is currently eighth in the HTFSDS point standings.
Taking advantage of the HTFSDS rainout, Winger invaded Senoia (Ga.) Raceway on Saturday afternoon among 24 Limited Late Models. Starting third in the $1,200-to-win feature, Ashton made up one spot to finish runner-up behind race-winner Matt Dooley.
