Feger leads FALS Spring Shootout early, settles in fourth

After both Castrol FloRacing Night in America events on Wednesday and Thursday fell to wet weather, Jason Feger joined a stout field of 54 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) entries on Friday evening at Farmer City Raceway (Farmer City, Ill.) for the annual Farmer City 74.

Following the seventh-fastest qualifying lap in his 27-car group, Feger squeezed into the opener with the third-and-final transfer spot in his heat race. With a $25,000 payday up for grabs in the feature, Jason started 14th and was running in seventh when his right-rear tire filled up with mud and forced him to pit on lap 47. He rejoined the field at the tail only to run into the same issue a few laps later.

On Saturday at Fairbury Speedway (Fairbury, Ill.), Jason backed up the fifth-fastest qualifying lap in his group with a runner-up heat showing. Starting the $30,000-to-win FALS Spring Shootout in sixth, Feger was up to third by lap 15 and overtook Devin Moran for the lead with a pass on the high groove four circuits later. He set a comfortable pace out front before the track took rubber on the bottom and relegated him to fourth in the finishing order. He trailed Moran, Ricky Thornton Jr., and Brandon Sheppard across the line with Jonathan Davenport coming in fifth.
