Justin Duty joins MARS for pair of Illinois shows

With the slated Lucas Oil MLRA events in Missouri nixed by rain over the weekend, Double Duty Motorsports driver Justin Duty took on two nights of racing with the MARS Late Model Championship Series in the Land of Lincoln.

First up on Friday, Duty was part of a 28-car field competing in the Richard Craven Memorial at Kankakee County Speedway. He drove his Don Frank Floors No. 15 Super Late Model to fifth in his heat race on the quarter-mile oval in Kankakee, Illinois, then advanced from his 15th-place starting position to finish 11th in the 40-lap, $5,012-to-win feature.

The next night, the series took on another quarter-mile oval in Illinois as the schedule shifted to Highland Speedway. The $5,000-to-win program brought 36 Super Late Models to the facility. Duty turned in a strong third-place effort in his qualifying group and finished third in his heat. He started the 40-lap A-Main from ninth on the grid and ran in the top five in the race’s closing laps before ultimately coming home 12th.
