Carney tops ASCS 305's in Amarillo

Bryan Hulbert - AMARILLO, Texas (May 4, 2013) Taking a weekend off from the Griffith Truck and Equipment Gulf South Region proved to be quite the payday for John Carney II as the El Paso, Texas driver snagged $2,000 at Amarillo’s Route 66 Motor Speedway with the ASCS 305cid Sprint Cars.

Billed as a $1,000 to win show, the winners share ended up getting a boost to $2,000 thanks in part to David Brown’s Sports Center and T-Miller Towing of Amarillo.

Earning the pole for the feature, Carney led the all-important final lap ahead of Larry Neighbors with Derek Drown, Taylor Velasquez, and Jordan Weaver in the top five. Barry Crane, Ty Williams, Preston Peebles, Scott Pace, and Nathan Moore completed the top ten with Peebles earning the AAA Amarillo Glass Hard Charger of the Race, advancing from eighteenth.
