Rear end woes sideline JGM at Clarksville

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (May 18) — Jim Gray’s night came to an early end in the feature of the J.R. Knight Memorial at Clarksville Speedway on May 18. Jim ran as high as 13th before rear end problems forced him pitside, relegating him to a disappointing 16th-place finish in the second-annual event for 602 Crate Late Models.

With 27 entries on hand for the $2,000-to-win event, Jim qualified 18th overall. Starting fourth in the final heat, Jim improved one spot to grab third and transfer into the main event, where he started 15th. He was up to 13th on lap six when he experienced problems with the driveline on the Jimmy Gray Motorsports Warrior. He made two more laps before calling it a night.

The team had originally planned to compete at Duck River Raceway Park in Wheel, Tenn., on May 26 and Pine Ridge Raceway in Baldwyn, Miss., on Monday, May 27, but will now forego its Memorial Day Weekend plans. Jim plans to be back in action on June 8 at Duck River.

JGM would like to say thank you to Victory Fun Park in Lewisburg, Tenn., and Definite Wellness in Tullahoma and Shelbyville, Tenn., for their continued support this season. Through seven events the team has five top-10 finishes, one top-five and a pair of DNFs.
