Ross Bailes pockets $4,000 preliminary feature victory with World of Outlaws at Ultimate Motorsports Park
With the World of Outlaws Case Late Model Series making a stop in the Carolina's, Ross Bailes unloaded the Joey Malone-owned No. 87 machine at Ultimate Motorsports & RV Park (Elkin, N.C.) for preliminary night of the Ultimate Showdown.
Among 40 Super Late Models signed in on Friday, Bailes topped his stacked qualifying group which earned him the pole position in the second semi-feature of the evening. Jumping out to the lead on the initial start, Ross led flag-to-flag in the quick 25-lap feature to earn a $4,000 payday, Bailes held off Ryan Gustin in the closing laps while Ben Watkins completed the podium.
Unfortunately, Saturday's $35,000-to-win main event was rained out.
Capping off his Memorial Day weekend on Sunday, Ross Bailes checked into Fayetteville (N.C.) Motor Speedway for the $10,000-to-win Summer Kickoff. Rolling off ninth in the 50-lap feature, Bailes landed inside the Top-10 in eighth.
