Brian Shirley fifth in Ultimate prelim; tough wreck at Macon Speedway with FNiA

Following the World of Outlaws Case Late Model Series to North Carolina, Bryan Shirley checked into Ultimate Motorsports & RV Park (Elkin, N.C.) on Friday night for preliminary night of the Ultimate Showdown.

With 40 Late Models checked in, Shirley started the 25-lap semi-feature from 10th and made up five positions to land inside the Top-5 in fifth.

Unfortunately, Saturday's $35,000-to-win main event was rained out.

Making the long haul to Macon (Ill.) Speedway on Tuesday afternoon for the $20,000-to-win Castrol FloRacing Night in America opener, Shirley started towards the back of the feature and was caught up in a wild pileup that left him on his lid. Shirley was OK and finished 24th.
