Holland claims top-5 finishes during Memorial Day weekend swing

Mississippi driver Chase Holland and his team hauled to three tracks in two states from Friday through Sunday and came away with no result worse than third.

On Friday and Saturday, Holland took part in a pair of $1,500-to-win Gulf South Crate Racing Association (GSCRA) shows in his Apex Fab & Equipment No. 45 Crate Late Model. First up on Friday was a trip to Many, Louisiana’s 3/8-mile Sabine Speedway, where Holland was one of 25 Crate Late Model entrants. He won his heat race and turned in a second-place finish in the 30-lap feature after starting from the third position. Holland trailed winner Corey Neil Jr. at the line by 0.924 seconds, with Mikey Kile, Beau Begnaud and Robbie Stuart completing the top five.

The next night it was off to Texas and 105 Motor Speedway, located in Cleveland in the Lone Star State. Holland was among 17 GSCRA Late Model drivers at the quarter-mile track for the night’s competition. He advanced from seventh to third in his heat and rolled off from the third spot in the 30-lap A-Main. Holland turned in a runner-up result for the second night in a row, this time crossing under the checkered flag 0.535 seconds behind winner David Winslett. Begnaud rounded out the podium, with Mark Underwood Jr. taking the fourth spot and Rob Litton coming home fifth.

On Sunday, Holland returned to the Pelican State to compete in his No. 45 Modified at Boothill Speedway in Greenwood, Louisiana. With 22 USRA Modifieds on the property at the quarter-mile oval, Holland won his heat and began the $1,000-to-win A-Main from third on the grid. He led four of the race’s 20 laps and ultimately recorded a third-place finish behind Chris Henigan and Dustin Henigan. Tyler Townsend and Jake Huckaby claimed fourth and fifth, respectively.
