Carlos Ahumada Jr. does The Big Deal
Hacienda Motorsports driver Carlos Ahumada Jr. took on Mississippi Thunder Speedway as May turned to June. At the track in Fountain City, Wisconsin, he was among 145 Modified drivers seeking a six-figure payday in The Big Deal.
On Wednesday, Ahumada qualified his Bear Graphix No. 65x machine 19th in his qualifying group to kick off the One Nation Under Modifieds (UNOM)-sanctioned event.
He then participated in preliminary competition on Friday at the 1/3-mile track, finishing 10th in his heat race. As a result, he started 19th in the C-Main and turned in a 15th-place result, ending his night before the 30-lap, $5,000-to-win feature.
The next day, Ahumada’s total qualifying points from the prelim nights put him in the F-Main to begin the alphabet soup of races leading up to the finale. He did not start and concluded his weekend before the 100-lap, $100,001-to-win main event.
