Tyler Bruening scores pair of podium finishes with Dirt Kings at Mississippi Thunder and Winneshiek

Sticking close to home over the weekend, Tyler Bruening unloaded the Olson Explosives No. 16 machine at Mississippi Thunder Speedway (Fountain City, Wis.) to compete with the Wabam Dirt Kings Tour.

With 26 Late Models checked in on Friday, Bruening earned the pole position for the main event after topping the qualifying charts and picking up a heat race victory. Leading the first eight laps of the Stars & Stripes 40, Tyler gave up the top spot and slipped back to third when the checkered flag flew. He trailed Dustin Sorensen and Jake Timm after 40-laps.

Following the series to Winneshiek Raceway (Decorah, Iowa) on Saturday afternoon, Tyler once again laid down the quickest lap in qualifying and took the checkered flag in his heat race. Rolling off from the pole-position, Bruening led 34 laps before Dustin Sorensen snuck underneath him in the closing stages of the A-Main. Tyler settled for a runner-up finish and recorded his second podium of the weekend.
