Ross Bailes
Pair of podium finishes with Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series at Lancaster and Cherokee
With the Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series coming to town, Ross Bailes enjoyed a weekend close home at Lancaster (S.C.) Motor Speedway and Cherokee Speedway (Gaffney, S.C.).
On Friday, Bailes qualified fourth in his group before finishing third in his heat race which placed him 12th in the starting lineup for the Buddy Crook Memorial. With a $12,000 payday on the line, Ross charged through the field and eventually found himself on the podium in third behind Jeff Smith and Zack Mitchell.
At his home track on Saturday for the Rock Gault Memorial, Bailes moved up to the runner-up position in his heat race and started fifth in the 50-lap main event. With another big payday on the line, Ross battled inside the Top-3 and came up just short with a runner-up outing. In the $20,000-to-win feature, Bailes trailed race-winner Zack Mitchell while Ashton Winger completed the Top-5.
