MYERS SCORES GREEN TO CHECKER VICTORY SATURDAY AT HAGERSTOWN. MOORE, WILSON AND FOUST ALSO SCORE ON BUSY NIGHT

Hagerstown MD, (6/1/24)- Greencastle Pa’s DJ Myers drove to his first feature win of the season in last Saturdays 20 lap Late Model Sportsman main at Hagerstown Speedway. The win for Myers, steering his familiar Rocket No.70J, would be his second career division feature win, and overall 19th at the fabled Washington county oval.

Myers shot into the race lead on the first lap and would eventually pace all 20 circuits in convincing fashion to score the victory. Tenth starting Ryan Zook reached second by the eighth lap and chased Myers for the duration, but would have to settle for runner-up honors. “I have to thank my dad and everybody on this crew, it’s been a long time since we’ve won here.” Myers stated post race. “This is a new car for us and a big thanks to Coleby Frye and Hershey racing engines, this thing was dialed in tonight.” 13th starting Shawn Shoemaker, Andy Fries and defending track champion Devin Hart rounding out the top five. Heats went to Cody Kershner, Devin Hart and Kyle Lear. A scary moment happened on the sixth lap as Gunnar Walls car slowed coming off turn number two and in the enduing chaos Bryan Benton hit Walls disabled car and flipped wildly down the backstretch. Kenny Yoder, Michael Carter and Pat McNeal were also caught up in the high-speed incident. All drivers got out of their cars under their own power with Gunnar Walls being treated and released by the tracks rescue squad.

It would be another weekend sweep for Defiance Pa’s Spike Moore as he would score his second UMP Modified win of the season at Hagerstown and was also the Friday night winner at Pennsylvania’s Bedford Speedway. Moore wrestled race lead from Jimmy Jesmer Jr on the 18th lap and would go on to score the victory. Jesmer he tough for second with, George Dixon, Cody Oliver and Darin Hoover trailing at the finish. Heats went to Moore and Dixon.

Cassville Pennsylvania’s Dylan Wilson became the third different winner of the season with his win in the 15 lap Semi Late feature. Wilson took the lead from Steve Kent on the 6th lap and would hold off a hard charging Jason Stoner to preserve the win. Kody Sites, Steve Kent and 17th starting Jasen Geesaman rounded out the top five. Heats went to Stoner and Wilson.

Knoxville Maryland’s Evan Foust drove to his second feature win of the season in the 15 lap Pure Stock main. Foust, who started 7th, grabbed the lead from Andrew Saffelle on the 9th lap and would pace the final six laps to collect the victory. Saffelle took a hard fought runner up finish with Nathaniel Younker, two time winner Keith Reed and Billy Ecton Jr completing the top five. Heats went to Saffelle and Foust.
