Early Season Woes Stifle Locals Success

Racing is a tough business but it is even tougher when you have to start the season behind the proverbial eight ball. Unfortunately for a few drivers and teams, that has been the case so far in 2024.

Jordon Paiment had an excellent debut in the late models going in the first race of the season on June 8. Sadly, his fantastic night was ruined on the final lap of the main event when mechanical woes in turn three took away a second-place effort and prevented him from racing on June 21.

The June 21 Redwood Acres Fair race also proved to be problematic for returning racer Chad Grammer. The former mini stock racer was debuting his new late model for the night but was also a victim of mechanical gremlins that prevented him from racing on the night.

2015 late model champion had Ryun Leazer had also hoped to make his long-awaited return in his new late model during the fair as well but multiple engine problems prevented him from even making a qualifying effort.

Early season issues have also knocked out regular front-runners in other divisions. Gary Klinetobe fell out of the first mini stock feature with mechanical issues with his new car. Legend competitor Chris Lawrence was involved in a heavy shunt in a heat race on June 21 that took him out of action that weekend. Thankfully, there is time for all drivers to redeem themselves this season.

Tickets for the July 27 race featuring the Spears SRL Southwest Tour Series, the Spears Modified Series and the Nor Cal Legend Series are currently available on RacinTheAcres.com. More information about the upcoming race can be found on Redwood Acres Raceway’s Facebook page.
