ASCS Northern Plains Going Three Wide In Wyoming This Weekend
CASPER, Wyo. (July 22, 2024) Nearing the final stretch of events for the 2024 season, three of the five remaining shows for the ASCS Northern Plains Region will start with Casper Speedway on Friday, July 26, then Gillette Thunder Speedway on Saturday, July 27, and Sheridan Speedway on Sunday, July 28.
CASPER SPEEDWAY (Casper, Wyo.):
The season’s third stop at the half-mile oval, the tour’s last trip was May 31 and June 1, with Trever Kirkland and series’ points leader Kelly Miller splitting time atop the podium.
Revived as a regional tour two years ago, Adam Speckman picked up the win in their first visit on June 11, 2022. Colorado’s Nick Haygood was the winner on May 29, 2023, followed by current ASCS National Tour Rookie of the Year contender Austyn Gossel on May 20, 2023, with his father, Bryan Gossel, winning on July 28, 2023. D.J. Brink went back-to-back on September 8-9, 2023.
Headlining this weekend’s Vince Novotny Memorial, Friday, July 26, pays $1,500 to win and $300 to start. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. with hot laps at 7:00 p.m. (MDT). Tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for seniors, students, military, and first responders, and free for kids 12 and under. Other divisions include Midwest Mods, Hobby Stocks, and Rocky Mountain Hard Top.
Casper Speedway is a half-mile oval located at 1277 Amoco Rd. Information on the track is online or by calling (307) 267-8475.
GILLETTE THUNDER SPEEDWAY (Gillette, Wyo.)
Three trips to the three-eighths-mile oval since 2022, Kelly Miller picked up the first visit on June 27, 2022, followed by Phil Dietz on July 31, 2023, and most recently, New Mexico’s Caleb Saiz on June 30, 2024.
Likewise, at $1,500 to win and $300 to start the event on Saturday, July 27, at Gillette Thunder Speedway, gates open at 5:30 p.m., with racing at 7:00 p.m. (MDT). The night’s lineup of classes will include Wissota Midwest Modified, IMCA Hobby Stock, IMCA Modifieds, Wissota Mod-4, and GTS Mini Bomber. Tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for seniors and veterans, $5 for 12 years and younger over four feet tall, and free for kids under four feet tall.

SHERIDAN SPEEDWAY (Sheridan, Wyo.)
The second time the tour has set sights on Sheridan Speedway, the season’s last time at the three-eighths-mile oval was July 30, 2023, with Blayne Brink capturing his first career win with the ASCS Northern Plains Region by 6.723-seconds over Josh Ostermiller. Prior to that, the last ASCS-sanctioned event in Sheridan, Wyo. was in 2021 with the ASCS Frontier Region, with Trever Kirkland landing the win.
Sunday, July 28, will include WISSOTA Street Stock, WISSOTA Mod Four, and WISSOTA Midwest Mods. Tickets are $20 for adults and free for kids 12 and under. Gates open at 4:00 p.m., with racing at 6:30 p.m. (MDT).

TOP FIVE RUNDOWN:
Canada’s Kelly Miller holds point on the series having won half the events run in 2024. Putting his distance at 65 over Nick Haygood. Third is currently held by Blayne Brink, with Logan Hershey and Adam Speckman making up the top five.
On track, this past weekend at Black Hills Speedway, Victory Lane time was split by Miller and Ryan Bickett. The only other winner in 2024 is Trever Kirkland.
