Cody Thompson is Worthington winner
On Saturday, Cody Thompson claimed his second feature triumph of the year when he claimed victory in the IMCA Modified class at Worthington (Minnesota) Speedway.
To open the evening, Thompson drove his No. 25c machine from eighth to first to win his heat race on the quarter-mile track. He then rolled off fifth in the 20-lap feature and grabbed the top spot on the second circuit.
He showed the way for the rest of the race and took the win with a whopping 7.637-second margin of victory over runner-up Sean Barragan. Cole Bents completed the podium, while Ricky Stephan and DJ Clinton finished fourth and fifth, respectively.
Thompson raced twice over the weekend, starting on Friday in the 16-car IMCA Modified class at his home track of Park Jefferson Speedway in North Sioux City, South Dakota. He took eighth in his heat on the 4/10-mile oval and started the 20-lap A-Main from fifth on the grid. However, he was only able to complete one lap before being forced to retire with a DNF. He was scored with a 16th-place result.
Thompson went on to win at Worthington Speedway the following night.
