John Duty races to runner-up result in Clair Cup
The patriarch of Double Duty Motorsports, John Duty, raced with the Silver Bullet I-5 Series on Saturday, making a start in the prestigious Clair Cup event at Willamette Speedway in Lebanon, Oregon.
To open the evening, Duty clocked the seventh-quickest time out of 18 entrants aboard his Don Frank Floors No. 5 Super Late Model. He next posted a fourth-to-first run in his heat race on the 1/3-mile oval, then started the 61-lap, $2,000-to-win main event from the 11th position.
He advanced nine spots in the feature’s first 21 laps and held onto the runner-up role for the final 40 circuits. Duty ultimately finished 4.883 seconds behind winner Colleen Winebarger, while Kyle Frick, Bricen James and Joey Tanner completed the top five.
