Stevens competes against LOLMDS foes on North/South 100 weekend
Tyler Stevens made his maiden voyage in his new Category 5 Race Car over the weekend at Florence Speedway. At the track in Walton, Kentucky, he took on some of the nation’s best Dirt Late Model teams in the North/ South 100.
Starting on Thursday evening, the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS)-sanctioned crown-jewel event brought 61 Super Late Models to the 4/10-mile clay oval for three days of competition.
With the field divided into two groups, Stevens finished fifth in his Group B heat on opening night after battling rear-brake issues early in the program. He started 18th in the group’s 25-lap, $6,000-to-win feature and came home 15th.
On Friday, the preliminary field was once again split in two and saw Stevens finish sixth in his Group B heat. He went on to win his B-Main, then started and finished 21st in the 25-lapper worth another $6,000 to the victor.
In the run-up to Saturday’s finale, Stevens took sixth in his heat race, but did not start his B-Main or the 100-lap, $75,000-to-win main event.
