Drake Troutman charges forward 20 positions to podium finish in North/South 100 at Florence Speedway
Returning to Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series competition after a two-week break, Drake Troutman checked in at Florence Speedway (Walton, Ky.) on Thursday afternoon for the North/South 100 weekend.
With a talented field of 61 Late Models on hand, Troutman raced his way into the first $6,000-to-win preliminary feature of the week and charged from his 14th-place starting position to a podium finish in third. He trailed Jonathan Davenport and Devin Moran while Tyler Erb and Josh Rice completed the Top-5.
The following evening, Drake started from the fifth-row in the 25-lap prelim and recorded a Top-10 finish in 10th. Troutman also competed in the Modified A-Main and brought home a seventh-place finish in the 20 lapper.
For Saturday's $75,000-to-win finale, Troutman took a provisional after finishing third in his B-Main and started 23rd in the main event. Using all 100 laps of the A-Main to his advantage, Drake stormed forward an incredible 20 positions to finish on the podium in third. Bobby Pierce and Devin Moran topped him while Max Blair and Brandon Overton completed the Top-5.
Troutman currently sits 11th overall in points and is leading the Rookie of the Year standings.
