Mat Williamson Goes Flag to Flag in 39th Ron Martin Summer Nationals at Ransomville

Cody McPherson Takes Mike Bonesky Memorial Checkered Flags

RANSOMVILLE, NY (August 20, 2024) “Money” Mat Williamson from St. Catharines, Ontario led every single lap to score his second Ron Martin Memorial Summer Nationals for the Super DIRTcar Series Big Block Modifieds at the Ransomville Speedway Tuesday night. For Williamson, it was his sixth Ransomville victory in 2024. The Mike Bonesky Memorial for the DIRTcar Sportsman was won by St. Catharines, Ontario’s Cody McPherson. McPherson would take the lead on lap 12 and would hold on for his sixth Ransomville win of 2024.

The evening was presented by Stirling Lubricants, National Maintenance Contracting Corp, Hebeler’s Sales & Service, Jeffery Machine, Wendt’s Propane, Krown Undercoating, and Loho Farms.

Mat Williamson and Gary Lindberg brought the field to the green flag for the 39th Ron Martin Memorial Summer Nationals, with Williamson in the lead ahead of Matt Sheppard, Lindberg, Stewart Friesen, and Jack Lehner. Friesen would take over third place on lap two after passing Gary Lindberg. Friesen would close in on Sheppard for second place, as Williamson started to pull away. Williamson hit lap traffic on lap 15. While in lap traffic, Sheppard and Friesen would close in on race leader Williamson. Friesen closed back in on Sheppard with 30 laps remaining, as the leaders had a tough time negotiating lap traffic.

Richard Murtaugh and Cameron Tuttle were on the front row for the 4th Annual Mike Bonesky Memorial for the Sportsman Super DIRTcar Series, with Murtaugh in the lead ahead of Tuttle and Cody McPherson. The red flag came out ton lap seven after a massive wreck on the front straightaway involving Kevin Wills, Jim Harbison, Nick Root, Jessica Power, and others. All drivers climbed out under their own. Cam Tuttle would take the lead away on lap seven from Murtaugh, as McPherson took over second from Murtaugh just a lap later. McPherson would take the lead away on lap 12 from Tuttle. McPherson would hold off Murtaugh and Tuttle following several restarts and would go on to score the win. It was his 17th career Ransomville triumph, tying him for 10th all-time, and it was McPherson’s fourth Series win at Ransomville.
