Overton second in World 100 prelim at Eldora Speedway
Unveiling a brand-new Wells Motorsports wrap in honor of the late Paul Wells, Brandon Overton unloaded the Infinity Chassis No. 11 Late Model at Eldora Speedway (Rossburg, Ohio) on Wednesday afternoon to kick off the 54th annual World 100 weekend with the Castrol FloRacing Night in America event.
With 82 Super Late Models crammed into the pit area, Overton revived his chances of qualifying for the opener with a ninth-to-fifth heat showing after a mid-pack time trial effort. Following a fourth-to-first showing in his B-Main, Brandon climbed eight spots in the $20,000-to-win A-Main to finish in 11th.
Getting off to a strong start in his World 100 preliminary on Thursday, Brandon topped his 54-car time trial group before driving to second in his qualifier. Chasing a $12,000 payday in his 25-lap prelim feature, Overton inched forward two positions to register a second-place finish. He joined race-winner Ryan Gustin and Jonathan Davenport on the podium.
After getting behind the eight ball in time trials on Friday, Overton backed up a strong charge forward in his qualifier with a 22nd-to-10th run in his final preliminary feature.
Overton’s weekend concluded on Saturday with an 18th-place finish in the $57,000-to-win World 100 finale.
