ST. MARYS, Ohio (09/16/24) – Tyler Erb added his 16th win of the season this past Thursday with a $5,000 Lucas Oil Midwest LateModel Racing Association (MLRA) victory in the Hawkeye Land 40 at Cedar County Raceway aboard his Bulk Material Lift / Anthony’s Pizza No. 1 Best Performance Motorsports / Langenfelder Mechanical Contractors / First Class Septic / XR1 Rocket Chassis / Clements Racing Engine Super Late Model.

The New Waverly, Texas transplant secured the evening sweep as he turned back a charging Garrett Alberson in the closing laps of the feature to capture his second career MLRA triumph.

“I seen Garrett underneath me a couple times and pretty much was like ‘I gotta go’ and get cleared of these lapped cars,” Erb said. “I had to make good decisions in traffic and I was kinda fortunate they were all on the bottom, so it left the top wide open for me. I had a terrible week last week at Eldora and to come back and win, just feels really good.”

Erb and the Best Performance Motorsports team kicked off their tripleheader weekend with the Lucas Oil Midwest LateModel Racing Association with a trip to Cedar County Raceway (Tipton, IA) on Thursday evening for the Hawkeye Land 40.

After claiming the overall fast time honors and a victory in his heat race, Erb kept a threatening Garrett Alberson at bay for all 40 laps of the main event to secure his 16th win of the season and the $5,000 winner’s payday. He recorded his second career MLRA triumph ahead of Alberson, Frank Heckenast Jr., Tony Jackson Jr., and Chris Simpson.

For the opening round of the Corn State Nationals on Friday evening at Davenport (IA) Speedway, Tyler turned in an 11th-to-6th run in the $5,000-to-win preliminary feature.

With a $10,000 top prize up for grabs in Saturday night’s finale, Erb muscled forward four positions in the 40-lap affair to register a fourth-place finish. He trailed Garrett Alberson, Brandon Sheppard, and Tyler Bruening to the checkers with McKay Wenger coming in fifth.

Erb and the Best Performance Motorsports team are gearing up for this weekend’s Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) Knoxville Nationals at Knoxville (IA) Raceway. A pair of $7,000-to-win preliminaries on Thursday and Friday are followed by Saturday’s finale, which pays $50,000 to the winner of the 75-lap feature.
