SUNSHINE'S JACKPOT: Tyler Courtney Takes $50,000 from Lernerville's Commonwealth Clash

There was chaos everywhere at the front of the field, but when it mattered most, Tyler Courtney survived everything thrown his way to cash a $50,000 jackpot at Lernerville Speedway's Commonwealth Clash on Saturday night.

Corey Day, chasing a weekend sweep in Sarver, PA, appeared destined to go for two-for-two and clear a $60,000 trip as he jumped to the early lead and controlled the opening 17 laps. However, it all went upside down when he the right rear snapped off the axle and sent the Jason Meyers Racing, Driven2SaveLives #14 flying over the cushion and off the edge. He was okay, but his dominating run was done.

From there, Myerstown, PA's Brent Marks assumed the lead with only 23 laps separating his Murray-Marks Motorsports, McGrewBid.com #19 from a Commonwealth Clash title - which would've been his first win at Lernerville and third High Limit win. However, more drama ensued, as Marks suffered a flat right rear tire on Lap 20 and was forced to the Rod End Supply Work Area.

After that, Sunshine was handed control of the field with 20 to go. The Clauson Marshall Racing, NOS Energy Drink #7BC was given one fierce fight by local ace, Sye Lynch, who brought the crowd to their feet as he challenged Courtney for the win.

Ultimately, the Indianapolis, IN native was able to fend off Lynch's attacks and worked through lap traffic to a 2.772-second margin of victory with a $50,000 check waiting on the other side. The win was Courtney's sixth trip to Whiskey Myers Victory Lane this year and his 12th overall, moving the #7BC ahead of Rico Abreu Racing for second in the Kubota High Limit Racing championship chase.

Apollo, PA's Sye Lynch brought the #42 home in second-place for the second-straight night - this time seriously challenging for the victory before ultimately claiming a $20,000 runner-up in front of a packed house of Sye Lynch fans.

James McFadden rounded out the podium with an 11th-to-3rd drive sending the Roth Motorsports #83 home with a $10,000 reward.

Closing out the top-10 at Lernerville's Commonwealth Clash was Tanner Thorson, Spencer Bayston, Brad Sweet, Jacob Allen, Emerson Axsom, Zeb Wise, and Chris Windom.
