Trio of MLRA top-10 finishes for Jackson Jr. in the Hawkeye State

From Thursday through Saturday, Tony Jackson Jr. continued his recent run of top-10 results as he earned three more in Midwest Late Model Racing Association (MLRA) competition in Iowa.

On Thursday, Jackson opened three consecutive nights of racing with a start in the inaugural Hawkeye Land 40 at the quarter-mile Cedar County Speedway in Tipton.

With 32 MLRA cars in the pits, Jackson drove his Elite Trailers No. 56 Super Late Model to a fourth-place result in one of four heat races. He started the 40-lap, $5,000-to-win feature from 15th and rocketed through the field to finish fourth, earning him the Swift Springs Move of the Race award. He took the checkered flag behind Tyler Erb, Garrett Alberson and Frank Heckenast Jr., with Chris Simpson completing the top five.

The next two nights, the MLRA schedule shifted to Davenport for the inaugural Corn State Nationals. Thirty-five MLRA teams descended on the quarter-mile track on Friday, while 36 were in the pits on Saturday evening.

Jackson posted a runner-up result in his heat on Friday, then started eighth and finished ninth in the 30-lap, $5,000-to-win A-Main.

On Saturday, Jackson took third in his heat race and started 10th on the grid in the 40-lap finale, paying $10,000 to win. He climbed four positions and registered a sixth-place finish, while also maintaining his runner-up spot in the series point standings.

Starting with a COMP Cams Super Dirt Series win at Oktha, Oklahoma’s Outlaw Motor Speedway on August 9, Jackson has turned in 10 consecutive top-10 feature finishes overall.
