Top-10 finish in Modified in Hawkeye Land 40
A tripleheader weekend across Iowa kicked off for Spencer Diercks on Thursday evening with the Lucas Oil Midwest LateModel Racing Association-sanctioned Hawkeye Land 40 at Cedar County Raceway (Tipton, IA).
Pulling double duty in the Late Model and Modified ranks, Diercks qualified second-fastest in his Late Model group before placing second in his heat. Chasing a $5,000 payday in the A-Main, Spencer rolled to a 13th-place finish.
His night in the Modified was highlighted by a 13th-to-7th run in the 20-lap feature.
Solely in the Late Model on Friday for the opening night of the Corn State Nationals at Davenport (IA) Speedway, Spencer earned a spot into the opener via a B-Main. Pinned on the 10th, Diercks climbed five positions to finish 14th.
Diercks’ weekend was cut short in both Late Model and Modified Corn State Nationals features on Saturday night.
