Brandon Overton notches fifth-place finish in Jerry Goodwin Challenge at TST
Brandon Overton made a surprise appearance behind the wheel of the Mason Oberkramer Racing No. 93 Late Model on Thursday afternoon at Lucas Oil Speedway (Wheatland, Mo.) for the opening round of the MLRA Fall Nationals.
Drawing 34 Lucas Oil Midwest LateModel Racing Association (MLRA) entries, Brandon stormed into Thursday’s preliminary with a fifth-to-second heat showing. With a $5,000 payday up for grabs, Overton retired on lap 12 after getting caught behind a spinning competitor early in the main event.
The next two nights saw Overton return to the driver’s seat of the Wells Motorsports No. 11 Infinity Chassis Late Model for a doubleheader weekend with the Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series at Talladega Short Track (Eastaboga, Ala.). Earning the pole for Friday’s preliminary via the fast time honors in qualifying, Brandon steered to a fifth-place finish in the 38-lap Jerry Goodwin Challenge A-Main. He chased Ethan Dotson, Trey Mills, Michael Page, and Dale McDowell to the checkers.
For the Red Farmer Tribute on Saturday, Brandon salvaged a 14th-place finish in the 50-lap feature after breaking a left-front shock early.
Brandon remains leading the latest Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series point standings.
