Tom Berry Jr. sweeps Race for Hope at Batesville Motor Speedway
Tom Berry Jr. returned on the road on Thursday as the eighth annual Race for Hope 71 brought 51 IMCA Modifieds to Batesville Motor Speedway (Batesville, Ark.) for the three-day event.
Starting Thursday’s preliminary in 12th via runner-up heat finish, Berry marched his way through the field early as he cracked the Top-5 by the 10th circuit. Pulling off a last-lap pass for the win, Tom nipped Curtis Cook at the line to record his 19th victory of the 2024 season. He finished 0.328 seconds ahead of Cook with Cody Thompson joining the evening podium.
In another dominant performance on Friday, Tom started the preliminary feature in eighth and outran Batesville local Peyton Taylor to increase his 2024 win tally to 20.
Seeking the Race for Hope sweep on Saturday, Berry stormed into the finale with a third-to-first heat showing. Repelling Jeff Taylor's late race charge, Tom led flag-to-flag in the 71-lap affair to secure his third win in as many nights.
A $7,500 payday for winning the finale and a $2,500 bonus for the weekend sweep lifted Tom's weekend earnings over $15,000.
