Holland earns Nathan Rettig Memorial victory
Chase Holland's third consecutive weekend of Modified racing in the Midwest paid off with a win worth $2,094 at Benton (Missouri) Speedway on Saturday.
The Nathan Rettig Memorial brought 37 Modified competitors to the 3/8-mile track in the Show-Me State, where Holland qualified with the third-quickest time in his group. He then took the top spot in his heat race and began the 25-lap A-Main from the pole. He wired the field in the main event to claim his 22nd feature triumph of 2024 with a 0.224-second margin of victory over Hunt Gossum. Trent Young, Austin Rettig and Chris Hall completed the top five.
The previous night, Holland and his No. 45 team began their weekend of competition in a 42-car DIRTcar UMP Modified at the 3/8-mile Lincoln (Illinois) Speedway. On the first night of the DIRTcar Fall Nationals, Holland qualified with the sixth-quickest time in his group and came home fourth in his heat. He started the 20-lap, $1,000-to-win Friday feature from the 16th position and came home 15th.
