JUPITER, Fla. (11/05/24) – Clay Harris added his second win of the season over the weekend with a $3,500 Crate Late Model triumph in Saturday’s grand finale at East Bay Raceway Park aboard his Rescue Metal Framing / Wicker Farms / Dunn Rite Construction No. 6 Rocket Chassis Late Model.
Harris nearly pulled off the sweep in the Crate Late Model portion of the Rusty Dixon Memorial at the iconic 1/3-mile oval that helped shape his career.
“Man, what a night,” Harris said. “I wish we could have gone out with the sweep with a win in the Modified, but it’s awesome to park the Late Model in victory lane in the final event here. I am going to miss this place, so many good memories from this track growing up in Florida.”
The final Rusty Dixon Memorial brought Harris to East Bay Raceway Park (Tampa, Fla.) on Saturday afternoon to compete in the 604 Late Model and DIRTcar UMP Modified ranks.
While mechanical issues plagued his bid in the $10,000-to-win Modified main event, Harris took home the checkered flag in the 40-lap 604 Late Model feature.
He started from the fourth-row and charged to the lead on lap 15 to collect the $3,500 payday over Ivedent Loyd and Tanner Cobb.
A broken power steering belt in the Modified feature derailed his plans to sweep the event.

Harris now shifts his focus to the XR 604 Nationals at All-Tech Raceway on December 12-14. The three-day event concludes on Saturday with a record-breaking $100,000-to-win main event for the 604 Crate Late Model division.
