Banks, Oregon- Sunset Speedway Park will have two great events take place this upcoming weekend. First on Saturday August 3rd will be the 5th Annual Doug Walters Classic which will have the Northwest Extreme Late Model Series, IMCA Modifieds, Street Stocks, 4-Bee’s, and Womens divisions all competing on ¼-mile clay oval. Sunday the 4th will have an open practice but expects to be the first race for the 300-Lap Iron Man Enduro Series.

All four Doug Walters Classics have been won by Greg Walters. Greg Walters, who is the son of the late Doug Walters, so far this year has won four times at SSP in 2013 when the Northwest Extreme Late Model Series has been in town including last Saturday night. Current series point lead Collen Winebarger has three total triumphs at the Banks bullring this year as well. In seven IMCA Modified features there have been seven different winners. That list includes Rob Ireland, Kenny Miller, Doug Lockwood, Chris Hallberg, Jeremy Martin, Mark Carrell, and Jesse Williamson. Will the streak of different winners continue this Saturday night?

In the Street Stocks Brian Roden has the most wins and the most points. Roden has visited the winner’s circle three times this year while defending track champion Craig Loomis has done so twice. John Ireland, Tony Catalano, and Marc Farrar have one win apiece. In the 4-Bee ranks John Oyler and Mike Mastrangelo are tied for most feature wins at three each. Jason Blythe has two victories and is the only other multi-race winner while Travis Koch and Gary Meyers have both achieved just a single triumph. In the Womens division Freya Smith has amassed six wins while Gabrielle Hollinger last Saturday became the second different winner this year with her trip to victory lane.

On Saturday August 3rd front gates open up at 3:30 PM with racing scheduled to start at 6:00 PM. Admission is Adults $13.00, Seniors/Military $10.00, Children (6-12) $5.00, Children (5 and Under) FREE, and Family Pack (Two Adults and Two Children) $30.00.

On Sunday August 4th general admission to the race is FREE while Pit Passes are $25.00. Pit gates open up at 10:00 am, pit meeting at Noon, and racing will begin around 1:00 PM. Parties that are interested in participating in the 300-Lap Iron Man Enduro Series can find a current set of rules on the track’s website under the “Driver Info” tab or may contact Series Director Doug Lockwood at (971)-235-7974.
