THUNDER ON THE THRUWAY SERIES ROUND TWO COMING UP AT THE FONDA SPEEDWAY THIS SATURDAY, JUNE 21

Fonda, NY – Round one of the 2025 Thunder on the Thruway Series took place this past Wednesday at the Fonda Speedway with Stewart Friesen (Amsterdam Truck Center Modified), Chad Edwards (Swagger Factory Apparel Sportsman), and Beau Ballard (Leatherstocking Credit Union Pro Stocks) taking the wins in the series events.

Round two comes to the “Track of Champions” this Saturday, June 21 with the three above named divisions in competition as part of the series. Also in action will be the Montgomery County Office for Aging Inc. Limited Sportsman and the Fonda Fair Four Cylinders along with the Mohawk Valley Vintage Dirt Modified Series (MVVDMS).

The MVVDMS will also be hosting the first ever memorial event for Kenny Shoemaker and Frank Trinkaus, two racing legends at the Fonda Speedway. They will be hosting five different divisions that represent the many different eras of our racings past Mystique, Antique, Sportsman, Late Model and Modified Divisions.

Cash Awards will be handed out from John Cankar, Melissa Shoemaker and New York’s Butcher Brothers LLC and North East Stock Car Old Timers Club (NESCOT). The MVVDMS will have three features with close to 40 cars in competition.

Parks Companies presents Thunder on the Thruway Series Plus Vintage Cars
The F.X. Caprara Car Companies Thunder on the Thruway Series takes over the Track of Champions presented by Parks Companies: Modifieds ($4,000 to win), Crate 602 Sportsman ($1,500 to win) and Pro Stocks ($1,000 to win). All divisions will be in competition plus Vintage Cars.

Amsterdam Truck Center Modifieds - 30 laps, $4,000 to win
Swagger Factory Apparel Sportsman - 25 laps, $1,500 to win
Leatherstocking Credit Union Pro Stocks - 20 laps, $1,000 to win

Mohawk Valley Vintage Dirt Modified Racing Series

All Gates Open: 4 p.m. - Hot Laps: 6 p.m. - Racing: 7 p.m.

Grandstand Admission: $20 (Adults) - $18 Seniors (ages 65 and over) - Kids 11 and under FREE

Infield Drive-In (includes four passes): $95

Pit Admission: $40 (Non-Members) - $35 (Members) - $10 Kids (11 and under)
If you are a race fan that gets to the track early, be sure to check out the history of the Fonda Speedway at the Fonda Speedway Museum & Hall of Fame which is located on the Fonda Fairgrounds at the rear of the parking area going down towards turn four. The museum is open from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on race days and admission is free!

Fonda Speedway weekly feature winners, their race teams, and sponsors are invited the following week to display their cars at the museum and watch their feature win on Flo before the races. The victorious car display can begin as early as 3:00, and you are welcome to arrive and stay as late as your schedule allows.

Since 1953, the Track of Champions Fonda Speedway has hosted the best in stock car racing. The speedway operates weekly on Saturday nights from April through August plus several special events.
