Troutman gets first World of Outlaws triumph at I-55; Summer Nationals victory at Wilmot
Claims $25,000 in Late Model Earnings with Two Wins
HYNDMAN, Pa. (06/23/25) – It’s been a breakout year for Drake Troutman, and Saturday night marked another milestone as the Pennsylvania native captured his first World of Outlaws Real American Beer Late Model Series victory in the St. Louis Firecracker Faceoff at Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55.
The triumph in the co-sanctioned event with the DIRTcar Summer Nationals was Troutman’s third victory of the week, joining wins at Wilmot Raceway on Monday and in the Modified ranks at Lee County Speedway on Thursday. In total, he banked $25,000 in Late Model earnings across the week.
“Man this place was pretty damn treacherous tonight. It sucks it wasn’t a points night for us, but we’re still here racing for $20,000 and it don’t get no better than that,” Troutman said in victory lane on Saturday night. “I gotta give a huge shoutout to (car owner G.R. Smith) and his whole family for giving me this opportunity. Without them I wouldn’t be here and they put me in the best equipment that money can buy. They truly believed in me from day one.”
Troutman opened his week Monday at Wisconsin’s Wilmot Raceway, the first event of Week Two on the DIRTcar Summer Nationals schedule. After winning his heat race, he charged past race leader Joseph Joiner on lap 19 of the 30-lap feature to score a $5,000 payday—his sixth win of the season.
He followed up with a 13th-place finish Tuesday at Davenport Speedway before a scheduled Wednesday event at Quincy Raceway was canceled due to rain.
On Thursday, Troutman pulled double duty at Lee County Speedway (Donnellson, Iowa), competing in both the Super Late Model and UMP Modified divisions. After a 15th-place result in the Late Model feature, he bounced back by holding off early pressure from Trevor Neville to capture his second win of the week and his fifth of the season in the Jerry Foster-owned Modified.
The Firecracker Faceoff at I-55 wrapped up the week with a two-day show featuring both the World of Outlaws and DIRTcar Summer Nationals fields. Troutman finished 10th in Friday’s opener but made the most of Saturday’s $20,000-to-win finale. After winning his heat and advancing into the redraw, he tracked down early leader Mike Harrison on lap 22 and led the remaining 28 circuits to notch his first-ever World of Outlaws Late Model Series victory.
The win also helped Troutman strengthen his place in the season-long standings—he now sits fourth in the World of Outlaws championship points.
