Smith, Wilson, Pense, Jefferies, and Masterson take Week 5.

Terry Mattox - SAPULPA, Okla. (August 10th, 2013) - Danny Smith, Dena Wilson, Larry Pense, Josh Jefferies, and Jimmy Masterson took Week 5 of the “Race for the Championship” at Creek County Speedway on Saturday night.

Champ Sprints

Danny Smith topped out dueled Billy Frazier to capture the nights 20 lap Champ Sprint feature event. Billy Frazier started on the pole of the main event and would lead the opening 17 laps around the quarter mile bullring. Smith got around Frazier on lap 18 and would go on to take the win, followed by Billy Frazier, David Stephenson, Alex DeCamp, and Fred Mattox rounding out the top 5.

Modifieds

Dena Wilson scored added another win to her 2013 season out dueling her son Brett Wilson in the “Mighty” Modified division. Dena started outside of the front row and would use that to her advantage leading wire-to-wire to capture the win. Ho Dean and Brett Wilson battled for the second spot and Wilson was able to get around on lap 11. Dean ended up running third, Mathew McBride, and Johnny DeRamus rounded out the top 5.

Dwarf Cars

Larry Pense continued his domination in the “Down and Dirty” Dwarf Car division besting a field of 17 competitors. Pense led all but the opening lap of the 21 lap affair, as that went to outside pole car Tanner Phillips. Kevin Brewer made his way to the second spot and would hold it down until the last 2 laps as he would get together with another car and spin in turn two. Rick Cochran came home in second, Sam Champlain third, Doug Risenhoover fourth, and Kevin Brewer rounding out the top 5.

Factory Stocks

Josh Jefferies capture himself another victory in the “Fast and Furious” Factory Stock division. Jefferies ran away with the feature win lapping up to the third spot in the 10 car feature event. Dann Gray who finished in the third spot led the opening lap in the 20 lap feature, and would fall to third behind Bobby Wolfe on the second circuit. Jimmy Owens finished in the fourth spot, with Brent Mendenhall rounding out the top 5.

Mini Stocks

Jimmy Masterson brought Daniel Ray Denton’s win streak to a halt tonight surviving the 20 lap Mini Stock feature event. Masterson taking advantage of his pole position starting spot would lead until lap 10, when Denton got around him. Masterson stole the lead back on lap 11, and would lead the closing 9 laps of the 20 lap feature event. Joshua Tyre came home with a second place finish, Rookie Brailey Hilligoss came home in fourth on her second night out in the Mini Stock division, and Dale Wick rounded out the top 5.
