Tim Sears Jr. Cruises To Brewerton Speedway Modified Win
By Dave Medler
BREWERTON, NY (August 8, 2025) - Coming into Friday night, Tim Sears Jr. held the point lead in the Tracey Road DIRTcar Big Block Modifieds. When he left the speedway, he strengthened his point lead with only four races left to decide the 2025 Track Champion.
Sears would start the 35-Lap Modified feature in twelfth place and quickly moved his way into the top five, from there would take the lead on lap 11and would never look back in a dominant performance for his second win of the season.
Other winners on the Reagan Companies Night: Jason Parkhurst Jr. (DOT Foods DIRTcar Sportsman) Justin Williams (AmeriCU Credit Union STARS/IMCA Mod Lites) Tim Dunn (Mirabito DIRTcar Four Cylinder Super Stocks) Kyle Ridley (E & V Energy Novice Sportsman).
The start of the 35-Lap Tracey Road DIRTcar Big Block Modified feature got off to a rough start with a multi-car incident in turn one involving Ron Davis III, Chris Hile, Dylan Zacharias, Amy Holland, Sean Beardsley, Todd Root, Jason Parkhurst, and Jesse Morgan. Four cars went to the pits for the night.
Chad Phelps would lead until lap 9 when Max Hill would drive into the lead with Tim Sears Jr. on the topside of the speedway would blast into the lead two laps later.
The caution lights would come on at lap 18 erasing the big lead Sears had built up. The top five for the restart was Sears, Jimmy Phelps, Zach Payne, Chad Phelps, and Nick Root.
With 10 laps remaining Sears was still setting a fast pace out front with Phelps, Darren Smith, Payne, and Chad Phelps battled for top five spots until the yellow slowed the race pace on lap twenty-one.
With 10 laps to go Sears once again opened a big lead with Phelps, Payne, Smith, and Chad Phelps still raced in the top five.
The final caution would come on lap 31 giving the field one last shot at Sears for the win.
When the race went back to green Tim Sears Jr. drove away from the field for his second win of the year. Jimmy Phelps, Chad Phelps, Darren Smith, and Zach Payne completed the top five.
The 25-Lap DOT Foods DIRTcar Sportsman feature saw Sam Groom jump out to the early advantage.
Groom would hold a few cars’ length advantage by lap 5 with Colby Herzog, Brian Harber, Brett Sears, and Savannah Laflair battled for top five positions.
Sears would drive into the lead on the back straight on lap 8 just before yellow.
Another caution on lap 9 would see Groom get turned around by Harber sending both cars to the rear of the field.
Sears would open a one second lead with 10 laps to go while Jason Parkhurst Jr. and Tony Finch II were in a tight fight for second and third. Herzog and Laflair showed in the top five.
A yellow lap 18 would erase Sears big lead setting up Sears, Parkhurst, Finch, Laflair, and Joe Trichilo for the restart.
The final laps would see Parkhurst all over Sears in a tight battle with Jason Parkhurst getting by Sears for the popular win. Brett Sears, Tony Finch II, Savannah Laflair, and Joe Trichilo finished second through fifth.
Seventeen AmeriCU Credit Union STARS/IMCA hit the track for their final tune-up before the 2nd Annual four race Beast of the East Showdown Friday, August 15.
The 20-Lap Mod Lite feature would see Justin Williams take advantage of his front row starting spot and bolt out to the lead.
By lap 5 Williams would open a big lead with Anthony Scott, Tom Mackey, Zack Babcock. And Roger Olschewske in a tight race for second through fifth.
Williams was still in total control of the race at the halfway point with Scott, Babcock, Olschewske, and Mike Mullen the top five just before a yellow.
With 5 laps to go you could have thrown a blanket over Williams, Babcock, and Mullen as the final laps started clicking off the scoring tower.
Justin Williams hit his marks and was the first under the checkers. Zack Babcock, Mike Mullen, Anthony Scott, and Roger Olschewske completed the top five.
Dylan Burdick would lead the opening lap of the 15-Lap Mirabito DIRTcar Four Cylinder Super Stock feature with Tim Dunn taking the lead on a lap 2 restart.
Multi-time feature winner and points leader Chris Bonoffski started tenth and would race his way to second on lap 11setting his sights on Dunn. Jack Taskey, Zak Petrie, and Justin Guyle were in the top five as the final laps started clicking off.
Over the final laps Tim Dunn outran Bonoffski to the checkers. Jack Taskey, Zak Petrie, and Justin Guyle completed the top five.
The Fulton Speedway E & V Energy Novice Sportsman made a second appearance of the season.
Jacob Gurecki would lead the opening lap of the 15-Lap feature with Kyle Ridley driving into the lead on lap 2 restart.
Ridley was never seriously challenged from there as he dominated the rest of the way. Jacob Gurecki, Belle Hogan, Kingston Sprague, and Sydney Wetherbee finished second through fifth.
