Covington Claims ASCS National Win at I-55

Matt Covington Racing – Glenpool, OK (September 26, 2025)
Matt Covington battled through an action-packed weekend with the ASCS National Tour, scoring a 4th-place finish Friday at Paducah International Raceway after an early setback, then rebounding in a big way to claim Saturday night’s victory at Federated Auto Parts I-55 Raceway in his Reece Construction/D&W Towing/Simpson Race Products/Triple X machine.

Friday night at Paducah was shaping up to be another strong outing for Covington. After setting quick time in his group, finishing 2nd in his heat, and winning the dash, he led the early stages of the feature before a punctured right-rear tire forced an unscheduled trip to the pits. Restarting from the back, Covington charged through the field to salvage a 4th-place finish.

On Saturday at I-55, Covington set the tone early by breaking the track record and posting overall fast time. After transferring through his heat, he advanced to the dash, finishing 2nd and earning a front-row starting spot for the main event. With the green flag waving, Covington settled into 3rd before moving into 2nd by midway. As the race wound down and traffic became heavy, he maneuvered his Missile Motorsports/Outlaw Wings/KSE Products/Fisher Racing Engines-powered entry past the leader and held on through the closing laps to secure the ASCS National Tour win.

“This was a big win for us, and it felt great to get it,” Covington said. “We had a couple of mechanical issues throughout the night that kept us scrambling until feature time, so pulling it off was really rewarding. I-55 is such a historic, high-speed place, ...it fits my style and is always a blast to race at. Friday was tough with the flat at Paducah, but to rally back to 4th there and then win at I-55 made for a great momentum weekend. We’ve had speed all year, and it’s showing here lately. Now we just need to stay focused and finish strong these last few weeks.”

Covington also took time to thank his team and partners:
“None of this would be possible without the support of our partners, sponsors, fans, and my crew. A big shoutout to Steven for all his hard work at the shop and on the road. This is truly a team effort and the grind on the road is not easy.”

The Covington Racing team will take the upcoming weekend off to regroup, freshen up the cars, and prepare for the final stretch of the season.
