It was a night of attrition for several teams at Willamette Speedway for the opening night of the Labor Day Classic on Saturday August 31st. A full card of racing was in store for fans as the DIRTcar Super Late Models, IMCA Modifieds, Super Sports, Sportsman, and Street Stocks would all compete on the historic 1/3-mile clay oval.

John Duty of Happy Valley would become the fourth different DIRTcar Super Late Model feature winner of 2013 as he would set a rapid pace and put his Don Frank Flooring/Big Sky Landscaping #5 Rocket in the winner’s circle. Joey Tanner from Portland picked up his second IMCA Modified win of the season in the #111 X-Factor becoming the third different driver to have won more than a single feature at Willamette this year.

Tangent’s Dennis Archer survived the Super Sport feature to win his first main event of the campaign driving his Archer Floor Covering #39 Swartz. Also holding on to the lead to capture his first win of the season would be Brian Winkler of Newberg in the Ye Olde Pizza Shoppe/Flatt Muffler #88 Rayburn. Last but not least after battling all challengers the Big Sky Landscaping #88 Camaro of Kevin Roberts from Gresham would win his third race of 2013 in the Street Stocks.

The second and final night of the Labor Day Classic will be on Sunday September 1st featuring all five divisions that were in action on Saturday night. Don’t forget that the World of Outlaw Sprint Series make their return to Willamette Speedway on Tuesday September 3rd.
