Banks, Oregon- Sunset Speedway Park will crown three champions this Saturday on September 14th. The night will be the final event of the year for the Northwest Wingless Tour, IMCA Modifieds, and 4-Bee’s. Also racing during the course of the evening will be the Northwest Extreme Modifieds on hand at the “Banks Bullring”.
On Saturday front gates open up at 3:30 PM with racing scheduled to start at 6:00 PM. Admission is Adults $13.00, Seniors/Military $10.00, Children (6-12) $5.00, Children (5 and Under) FREE, and Family Pack (Two Adults and Two Children) $30.00.
The Northwest Wingless Tour will see the title race come down to the final event. With just fifty-nine points separating first and second in points Rob Lindsey looks to become the fifth different champion in as many years with the NWWT. In four visits to SSP from the series there have been three different winners with defending champion Bill Winsley earning two triumphs while Sterling Kane and Mitch Hoffses have won once.
The IMCA Modified ranks have seen just one multi-race winner in 2013, Mark Carrell. Carrell would dominate the feature last Saturday to win his second race of the season. Seven drivers have visited victory lane once this season which includes Rob Ireland, Doug Lockwood, Kenny Miller, Chris Hallberg, Jeremy Martin, Jerry Schram, and Jesse Williamson.
On the other hand in the Northwest Extreme Modifieds Rick Graham has had his way with the division winning seven of the eight races in the books. Rob Ireland has been the only driver to have beaten Graham in main event action during the current campaign.
Last but not least is the 4-Bee division which has provided some breathtaking action. An amazing stat is that three drivers are tied for most wins this year. They are Mike Mastrangelo, Jason Blythe, and John Oyler all of which have three wins apiece. Travis Koch has two wins this year while Gary Meyer has just one.
The Sunset Speedway Park is located just west of the Portland metro area in Banks on the Sunset Highway. From April until October you can get your racing fix at this facility which competes weekly primarily on Saturday nights. Regular classes in action include the NW Extreme Winged Sprint Cars, IMCA Modifieds, Street Stocks, 4-Bee’s, NW Extreme Modifieds, and the Womens division.
