A good Kart count was on hand for the fourth Kart race of 2014 for Willamette Speedway on Friday June 20th. Some really exciting action would be held during the course of the evening with a couple of nail biter main events taking place.

Leading the entire distance of the Pee Wee feature and picking up his fourth straight win was Coos Bay’s Jayden Trupp in his Dave Foote Racing/Nexdor Tobacco & More/Trupp Family Race Team #72 QRC. Behind him in second was Trevor Grimes from Medford in the Grimes Racing Engines #100 RFC while third went to Makayla Patterson of Lebanon in her James Gang Pizza/Clayton’s Cornwell Tools/Rebecca’s Barber Shop #47 QRC. Completing the top five was Elkton’s Gavyn Woody in the Mary’s Gateway Laundry/Ken Stevenson Trucking/Chip Express/DT Motorsports #75W QRC in fourth and fifth would go to The Knothole Market/Oregon Parts #99 QRC of Jonah Smith out of Albany.

Picking up the victory in the KT Speedway Karts was Lincoln City native Jonathan Brown. It would be the third straight win for Brown and the Brown’s Lil’ Kart Shop/World of Karting/Pro Sound Audio Services/Break The Chain Apparel #7 BKS team and for car owner Darren Brown.

In the 250cc main event there would be several cautions in the first few laps but Eric Scofield of Albany would show the way early. The Scofield’s Karts and Parts/Lassen RV/Human Bean Coffee/Fastenal #37 QRC Area 51, of Scofield, would stay out front until Tyler Thompson from Harrisburg would make a move right around lap five. Thompson would lead the rest of the distance to win his first race of the season for his Bunce Equipment/Village Green Resort/BC Motorsports/Rocket Designs #77 RFC entry.

In a wild finish at the end Kyle Cormican, of Vancouver, Washington, was second in the Schram Brothers Excavating/Xtreme Motorsports/RSR Racercraft/James Gang Pizza #113 RFC followed by the Scofield Karts and Parts/Dan’s Motorsports/Sureflow Concrete Pumping Services/Crocker’s Cars #99 QRC of Jared Lund from Salem in third. Eric Scofield was fourth while behind him in fifth was the Goss Family Racing #22 QRC of Tyler Goss from Eugene.

In the 5HP Open/Intermediate main event Carter Patterson of Lebanon would take care of business. There would be lots of yellows early but Patterson would take the lead within the first five laps to win his second main event of the season for him and the James Gang Pizza/Clayton’s Cornwell Tools/Rebecca’s Barber Shop #47 QRC team. Austin Sause of Cottage Grove was second in the Harbaugh Clutches #7 QRC while third place was the Discount Race Car Parts/Big Sky Landscaping/Absolute Auto Service/Frisbie Motorsports #1W QRC of Skyler Winebarger from Corbett. Jerry Fonfara of Keizer was fourth in his Psycho Graphix Lines, Signs, and Designs #88 QRC and behind him in fifth was Trevor Grimes in the Grimes Racing Engines #100 RFC.

In the 125cc main event Tyler Pagel was the early leader. Pagel, from Brightwood and piloting the Beggs Tire & Wheel/C.A.’s Lift Truck Service/Grumpy Ed #27 QRC, would stay out in front until Kyle Roles of Lebanon would make the pass for the top spot. Roles would lead and set a rapid pass but would eventually spin. That would give the lead to Creswell’s Connor Hanson who would stay out for the rest of the distance. It would be the second win of the season for the Hanson Contract Cutting/BC Motorsports/DT Motorsports/Horner’s Inc. #55H QRC of Hanson.

Trinity Pendley of Albany was second in her Linn-Benton Insurance/A.A. Towing/James Gang Pizza #47 QRC and crossing the wire in third was Portland’s Jaden Walbridge in the Intermountain Innovations #18 RFC. The balance of the top five would consist of The Knothole Market/Big Sky Landscaping/Bunce Equipment/Clayton’s Cornwell Tools #02 QRC of Kyle Roles in fourth and Tyler Pagel in fifth.

In the Rookie Speedway Kart main event it was a thriller. Jerry Fonfara, in the Fonfara Racing #88 Trackmagic entry, was out in front early but would spin out in the first couple of laps. That would give the lead to the Mott Family Racing #16 Emmick of Salem chauffeur Calia Mott. Mott would lead for some time before losing the lead due to mechanical problems. That would then give the lead to the Bob’s OK Tire Store/G&S Machine #17 entry of Jayden Kimball from Keizer. Kimball would hold on for the win to pick up his second triumph of the season. Fonfara was second while Mott would go home third.

In the Open Kage it was a wild one too. Makenzie Thompson of Harrisburg would set a rapid pace once the race got started but she would spin while out in front in the first few laps. That would give the lead to the James Gang Pizza/Rainbow Rentals/Lebanon Auto Body/Sign Express #13 SKE of Bricen James from Albany. James would lead for some time before losing a tire and wheel putting him out of the race. This would give the lead to Chandler Crawford of Roseburg in the Fastenal/Pete’s Drive In/Main St. RV’s #15C QRC.

Crawford would lead some laps before Winston’s Kyle Alberding would get his way to the front. Alberding, piloting the Eoff Electric Supply/WSK Machine #76 QRC, would have his hands full with a charging Makenzie Thompson who had climbed her way to the front after spinning earlier. Thompson would pass Alberding for the lead only to give it back due to a stoppage occurring before a lap could be completed. Alberding would retain the lead for the rest of the distance to pick up the big win.

Makenzie Thompson was a respectable second in her Bunce Equipment/Village Green Resort/BC Motorsports/Rocket Designs #1W RFC while in third was the Enos Upholstery/O’Hagen Motorsports #93 RFC of Matt Enos from Silverton. The rest of the top five would see Chandler Crawford in fourth and Roseburg’s Brady Senger in fifth in his Whit-Log Trailers/Oregon Tool & Supply/Mufflers & More #8 QRC.

In the Micro Sprints Jeff Broadwell from Springfield would put up the win. It would be the first appearance of the year for Broadwell in his Dorman Construction/X-Factor Race Cars #4B PMP.
