Banks, Oregon- It’s that time of the year again. The biggest Street Stock race in the entire Pacific Northwest will be on tap at Sunset Speedway Park on Saturday July 12th, the Jim’s Thriftway Open Street Stock National 100. Also on the card are Pure Stocks, Dwarf Cars, and Micros. We would like to give a huge shout out to the fine folks at Jim’s Thriftway in Banks for once again being a part of this great event. Also there are going to be some fun activities taking place, this is one race you don’t want to miss.

“We are honored to be sponsoring the Jim’s Thriftway 100 race again this year,” commented Jim’s Thriftway owner Mark Ward, “We think it is the most exciting race of the year. Special Thanks to all race fans who have shopped our store or enjoyed the BBQ wagon!”

The Street Stock feature will be contested for one-hundred laps at the “Banks Bullring” and is $1,000.00 to win. Also a random pill will be drawn after the races ranging from numbers two through twenty. The driver that finishes in the number of the pill that was drawn will receive a $500.00 bonus courtesy of an anonymous Street Stock fan.

Already in 2014 there have been a good mix of Street Stock feature winners. John Ireland has the most, with three, while Freya Smith swept the Independence Day weekend doubleheader. Brian Roden and Earl Claypool Jr. are the only two drivers with one win each this year.

In the Pure Stocks newcomer Trevor LaBarge has won three of the four events so far this season. The only other driver to beat him was Ken Schave. In the Dwarf Cars Ryan Martinez, Corey Esteban, Chris McCleary and most recently Guy Tow Jr. have all had success at SSP this year.

In the Micros the Open division has yet to see a repeat winner. Kaitlyn Hammer, Spud Allen, and Dustin O’Brien have all graced victory lane once while in the Restricted ranks Jesse Schlotfeldt has won all three main events.

Jim’s Thriftway is an independently owned and operated grocery store located in the city of Banks.
