NEW YORK & WASHINGTON ON TAP FOR HPD MIDGETS

HUNTER, CORRIHER SPLIT ACE EASTERN WINS

USAC’s HPD Midget Series continue with races this week in New York and Washington state. Friday’s races are at Williamson, N.Y. (Eastern) and Deming, Wash. (Washington), while Saturday’s races are at Oswego, N.Y. (Eastern) and Alger, Wash. (Washington.

Scott Hunter leads the eastern series to Friday’s race at Spencer Speedway and Saturday’s race at Oswego Speedway. Chase Goetz sits atop the Washington series entering Friday’s “special event-non-points” race at Deming Speedway and Saturday’s race at Skagit Speedway.

Eastern leader Hunter and Tyler Corriher each snagged 30-lap feature victories at Ace Speedway in Altamahaw, N.C. Friday night. Hunter, of Wald Lake, Mich., passed Nolan Allison on lap two and led the last 29 laps of the first 30-lapper to beat Blaine Leydig, Corriher, Allison and Matt Lundstrom. In the 30-lap nightcap, Corriher, of China Grove, N.C., led all 30 laps to beat Lundstrom, Leydig, Hunter and Allison. Hunter was also the fastest qualifier.
