Brian Brown – 2014 Road Ends in Charlotte!

(Bill W) November 6, 2014 – It’s been another great season for Brian Brown and the Casey’s General Stores/FVP #21 team. There would be no better way to cap it off than winning at The World Finals at The Dirt in Charlotte, North Carolina this weekend. The competition will again be stout at a track that the Grain Valley, Missouri driver has shown strength at over the years.

I know the team is excited about racing in Charlotte, starting tonight with qualifying.

We’re really looking forward to Charlotte. This is one of the big events of the year. With the Big Block Modifieds, the Late Models and the Sprint Cars, it attracts 20,000 spectators a year. We always like to run in front of the big crowds.

You’ve really won well at Charlotte in the past.

We’ve had some success there recently. We’ve been able to run second in the Friday show the last couple of years. We’ve been in a position to win those as well. I think we’ll unload with some confidence. We’ll look at our notes, and go from there.

I know since the Short Track Nationals, the team has been working overtime getting ready.

Chad (Morgan) and Zac (Thomas) have worked their butts off to make sure we are bringing our best stuff there. We have our best Maxim chassis with our best Charlie Garrett engine.

Tonight kind of determines your mindset heading into the weekend. You do two rounds of qualifying that set up the lineups for Friday and Saturday.

Those four laps are really crucial tonight. They set your whole weekend up. You qualify for Friday and then you wait about an hour and a half and qualify for Saturday. It’s kind of the opposite of what we’re used to in qualifying and then heading to the heat race.

A win would really put some icing on a really good season.

There wouldn’t be a better way to cap off our 410 season than to pick up a win with the Outlaws. At the least, we want to finish somewhere up front.

You will be facing the best of the Outlaws, All Stars and central Pennsylvania.

I think outside of the Knoxville Nationals, it’s the toughest field we face. You’ll have fifty or sixty cars. Fifty of those have probably won races somewhere in the country this year. You better have your best car, and you better be on your game setup-wise. If not, you’re going to be on the outside looking in. It’s going to be tough, but I think we’re up to the challenge.

Brown’s Bits

Brian was able to put a solid weekend together last year at Charlotte. He would win the Dash and finish second in the opener, before pulling down another top ten finish on Saturday.
