Brady Bacon – Seventh Win of the Year Comes at Tulare!

(Bill W) June 2, 2015 – Brady Bacon picked up his seventh win of the season last Saturday night in USAC Western Midget competition at the Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, California. The win came aboard the Josh Ford Racing #73. This week is the “Eastern Storm” for USAC sprint cars and after the rainout at Grandview tonight, the Broken Arrow, Oklahoma driver has four nights of racing planned in five days aboard the Hoffman Racing #69.

Brady spent the weekend in California. He raced the #73 with a wing Friday at Kings Speedway in Hanford. “We were just off to start the first night,” he says. “We got quite a bit better. I had won with the ASCS National Series the last time I was at Hanford. I tried to go back with that package, but it was a Maxim this time and it didn’t feel the same. The track was really rough in the feature. We just got too far behind and couldn’t catch up. There was a really good crowd there though.”

Saturday saw double duty at Tulare. “It was a busy night for the team,” says Brady. “I was running a midget and a sprint car, and so was Trey Marcham. They had four cars to keep track of.”

The night went flawlessly in the midget. “The midget was great all night,” says Brady. “We had quick time, won the heat (from sixth) and won the feature (from sixth). We were good when the track was heavy, and good when it got slick. That was kind of the purpose of going out there. We wanted to shake the midget down for Indiana Midget Week.”

Brady also had hopes of winning in the sprint car in USAC West Coast action. He was second quick, and made it through the heat. “We were pretty good in the sprint car too,” he says. “The track was slick to start out with, then they watered it and it came back pretty good. We got a little gun-shy for the feature and freed the car up. We should have stayed the same or tightened up.”

Starting fifth, he moved forward before pulling off. “We really should have ran second, but we had some motor issues, and I pulled off,” says Brady. “It was getting pretty hot. I knew if it was mine, I would have pulled off, so that’s what I did.”

The “Eastern Storm” is set to kick off tomorrow night at Lincoln Speedway in New Oxford, New Egypt, New Jersey Thursday, Port Royal, Pennsylvania on Saturday and Susquehanna Speedway in Newberrytown, Pennsylvania Sunday. “We’re really looking forward to it,” says Brady. “We have a lot of great fans out in PA, whether we’re racing with the wing or whether it’s during this ‘Eastern Storm’.”
