SAPULPA, Okla. (March 21, 2016) Blake Hahn’s first weekend on the road with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series National Tour got off to a rocky start, but was quickly smoothed over as Hahn’s weekend ended with the Lucas Oil / CSR Garage No. 52 fifth in tour standings, only 28 points removed from the lead.

Kicking things off at the Heart O’ Texas Speedway on Thursday, March 17, Hahn found himself at the tail of the field in the night’s A-Feature after being involved in a caution.

“I ended up making contact with Aaron Reutzel after it looked like he slipped off the top of the track and tried to come back on and it spun us around and we ended up getting Brandon Hanks in the process. We restarted at the tail and just kept working forward again. There were a lot of cautions, and the restarts helped but the car was a handful after the crash because the right front was knocked back so we were happy just to do as well as we did,” said Hahn of his Waco run.

With Friday night at the Devil’s Bowl called by track official on account of weather, Hahn was among the 47 who checked in for Saturday night’s Devil’s Bowl Spring Nationals; ending his night sixth in the A-Feature.

“We won our Heat, and that put us into the Qualifier,” said Hahn. “We didn’t change much of anything between the two races, and in the Qualifier we didn’t have near the speed we had in the Heat. We were able to hold onto second but we changed a lot on the car before the feature and it was better; the track was really tricky so you had to be very precise on where you were running.”

Asked about the new Heat/Qualifier format for field that exceed 40 cars, Hahn replied, “I like it. It gives the teams a better chance to make the feature if you do end up in a loaded Heat, or one where the track is really narrow. I think ASCS made the right move going to that. I know a lot of drivers like the new format and a track like Devil’s Bowl is where you really need it.”

Hahn and the Lucas Oil No. 52 team are on the road this week with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour with stops at the Cotton Bowl Speedway in Paige, Texas on Friday, March 25 and Bronco Raceway Park in Cleveland, Texas on Saturday, March 26.

“I’m looking forward to getting back to Cotton Bowl. We run good there, just didn’t end our last race the way we wanted. I’ve never been to Bronco, but I’ve heard it races well.”
