Brad Loyet - Focus Turns to TMS this Weekend!
(Bill W) May 11, 2016 – Brad Loyet and the Vacuworx Global #o5 team had a fast racecar last weekend, but the results didn’t show in the end. A 13th place finish in the first outing of the season with the World of Outlaws was respectable at Jacksonville Speedway in Illinois last Wednesday. A charge through an ASCS field at Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, Kansas Friday ended rudely in turn two. The Sunset Hills, Missouri driver is looking forward to a change in luck this weekend at a two-night ASCS event at Texas Motor Speedway north of Fort Worth.
Brad time in fourth quick in his group with the WoO in Jacksonville before winning his heat. “Whenever you can qualify well with the Outlaws, especially with their new format…it’s usually going to be a good night,” he says. “We were lucky enough to get out front in the heat race and lead the whole thing.”
He would start seventh in the Dash. “We had a little bit of an issue that we got fixed after the heat, and we got a little bit of a bad start in the Dash,” says Brad. “We kind of got shuffled in the middle in the first corner and lost a spot. We were able to come back and regain it and take seventh.”
Brad would start inside row four in the main event. “We had a good car early in the feature,” he says. “We had a good car the first 25 laps. I was really content with it. We were holding our own there. They worked the track a little more than they usually do though, and my normal Jacksonville setup wasn’t very good the last half of the race. We were trying to hang on really, and we ended up 13th. Overall, it was a good night. We were pretty happy for our first outing with the Outlaws this year.”
At Lakeside, the heat draw saw him start in row three and finish fifth. “We had a pretty good car in the heat to be honest,” says Brad. “We just started behind all the quick guys. A lapped car kind of cost us a spot on the last lap, which sent us to the B main. In the B, we were superfast. It was one of those nights where it wasn’t a bad thing to be in the B and get a few more laps on the big track.”
The speed would continue for Brad in the feature, where he started 17th. “We had an awesome car in the feature,” he says. “We were moving up through there with ease. Right before we crashed, we had passed (Danny) Lasoski, who ended up running fifth in the feature. We still had ten laps to go at that point.”
That crash ended the night. “Unfortunately, we had a left rear wheel break on us,” says Brad. “It sent us into the wall. It wouldn’t have been that bad of a wreck. I felt like I flipped, but I guess I didn’t. The bad part was getting hit by (Kyle) Bellm. He didn’t have anywhere to go. That rung my bell pretty hard. I just had to take a break and make sure everything was still attached. It took me a couple days to recover, but we put a new car together and we’re ready to go this week.”
Brad is looking forward to TMS Friday. “We’re excited to get to Texas Motor Speedway,” he says. “It’s been on my list all year long since we decided to race with ASCS. I really want to get a win at Texas Motor Speedway this weekend and get back on track for where we need to be. We’ve had some bad, stupid luck with ASCS this year and we need to change that around.”
