SAPULPA, Okla. (June 8, 2016) Things didn’t go quite as planned for Blake Hahn and the Lucas Oil / CSR Garage No. 52 team at Michigan’s Hartford Speedway, as the Oklahoma shoe left the track on the hook on Friday night after contact with the inside wall on the half-mile oval.

Winning his Heat Race from fourth, Blake drew third on the A-Feature lineup.

Restacked for a caution on the start, the second attempt is when things went south as a hole through turn two got the car bouncing into the slick, causing the back end to wash out and spin in front of traffic.

“It was a bad deal. I got to bouncing and when the car started walking up the track, I was in the slick and it just came around. I felt bad for Brad Loyet because he had nowhere to go and ended up running into the side of the car,” said Hahn.

Able to continue without a trip to the work area, Blake was able to make up some ground, but would bobble off the first turn trying to hug the bottom line.

“The track was around the bottom, and I just got to low. When I did, I tagged the wall and broke the front end. It was already a rough weekend because of rain, and that just made it feel like a kick in the gut, but it is what it is. I just have to thank my Dad and Dalton for giving me a good car and hope we can get back to Hartford next year.”

With the car back together, Blake turns his attention to the ASCS Sizzlin’ Summer Speedweek, which kicks off this Saturday at the Route 66 Motor Speedway in Amarillo, Texas.

“I love Speedweek. We’re going to some of my favorite tracks this year so I know I’m ready to go,” commented Hahn. “The whole week is a challenge and because of that, you can either really make up ground in the championship standings, or you can drop in a hurry. It’ll be interesting to see how it all shakes out.”
