Kilgore Collects 3rd IMCA Modified Feature Win at Luxemburg Speedway

(Luxemburg, WI)- Shawn Kilgore came from row six and a mid-race triple threat to pick up his third IMCA Modified Win at Luxemburg Speedway. 127 cars competed over five divisions. Four of the five Feature races went green to checkered flag, having no cautions.

Jamie Suchocki won his first IMCA Stockcar Feature of the season in the IMCA Stockcars.

Other winners included: J.J. Anderson (IMCA Sportmods) Scott Boulanger (Street Stocks) and Calvin Stueck (4 Cylinders.)

Josh Lambert led the opening lap of the IMCA Modified Feature before popping the cushion on lap two. Mike Joski took advantage of the slip and grabbed the lead for the next two laps, bringing Eddie Muenster with. Muenster would gain control on lap four. Lambert fought back to the leaders back bumper and the two would tango. With Lambert working the leader, Shawn Kilgore came from his sixth starting row to the third. Kilgore tracked down the duo and took his time and waited patiently. Muenster had both Kilgore and Lambert testing him until lap 13. Kilgore found the opening he needed to end the triple threat match off turn two. Kilgore dominated the final seven laps and won his third Feature of the season. Muenster won the race long duel for second over Lambert. Dave Zeitler brought home a fourth place finish in front of Josh Long in the caution free race.

Rick Dix started up front in the IMCA Stockcar Feature and took the top spot for the opening two laps. Jamie Suchocki ran from position six to the front by lap three. Suchocki ran right through the middle of the speedway while everyone else ran the top and bottom. The seas parted for Suchocki on his way to the front and the veteran was never tested. Dylan Heilmann followed Suchocki to the front but once they got there he was never able to make a run at the leader. Troy Muench started coming forward but a flat tire would diminish the point leader’s race win hopes and hand the point lead over to Shawn Havel. Suchocki maintained a six to eight car lead at all times on his way to victory lane, his first at Luxemburg in 2016. He earned the clean sweep by also winning the heat. Heilmann finished second. Brett Wenzel won the late race battle for third over Kyle Frederick and Billy Lemieux in a race that never saw a caution flag.

The old saying in racing is, “You just have to be in it to have a chance to win it.” J.J. Anderson had to go through the last chance race to make the IMCA Sportmod Feature. He started 16th and came through the field. Bernie Reinhardt started on the pole and led early with Kelsy Hayes following near and dear. Hayes used the first restart to get around Reinhardt and check out from the field. Lucas Lamberies grabbed the second spot. Hayes was well on her way to a win but the race caution gods had another idea. With four laps remaining, the second and final caution appeared. On the restart, Anderson was in the third spot and rocketed forward. Hayes, Anderson and Lamberies locked into a three wide battle for a half a lap before Anderson came out ahead. Anderson led the final three circuits to pick up his first Feature win since opening night. Hayes finished second ahead of Lamberies. Point leader Randy Lemieux Jr finished fourth and extended his point lead going into championship night. Craig Dorner finished fifth after starting 17th.

The closest finish of the season came in the Street Stock Feature event. Jimmy Anderson grabbed p1 but came under fire on lap three from Zach Spangenberg. Spangenberg took the top spot on lap three and could carry the torch in front of the field. Under all the green flag laps, Scott Boulanger worked to the front and eventually got behind Spangenberg. The duo would run through lapped traffic with six laps remaining. Boulanger and Spangenberg would exchange the lead numerous times at the line. On the final lap, it was drag race time around the 1/3 mile. Boulanger stayed low with Spangenberg up top until turn four. Boulanger cut the perfect final two corners and picked up the win by inches over Spangenberg. Boulanger earned his fifth win of the season in front of the rookie driver, Spangenberg. John Hill placed third in front of Matt Warner and Justin Mahlberg.

Calvin Stueck came once again and conquered the 4 Cylinder division. He was never touched in the 15 lap main event. He crossed the line first for the fourth time this season. He was trailed by Roger Braun, Matt Brehmer, Brian Johnson and Dan VanPay at the stripe.

Championship week has come to Luxemburg Speedway. Regular season Champions and Chase Champions will be crowned next Friday Night, August 26th. In case of a rainout, the Championship Night would be September 2nd.
